HANDAN’S TALE – EPISODE 3

Opening scene – Rolls Royce, Daimler, Aston Martin, and more, are driving calmly up the long tree lined drive. They are met by uniformed valets who open doors and offer gloved hands to help their guests out – before driving the top end cars to their designated parking slots.

Ummmmm – KAR reality check.

The old white (sort of !) KAR ford van chugs, splutters and chunters slowly up the “tree lined” track at the top of the mountain. The guest inside is helped out by the crew – the Ford is then parked up close to the other KAR vehicles – all hardworked and well used vehicles each serving a very important role with KAR.

There is the crescendo of “Hello, where have you been, what have you been doing ?” as Handan limps gingerly to DA1. Her eyes are downtrodden and she whimpers to her friends Abby and Trev…. “Well I have done it – now I just have to wait and see what happens” She limps over to her kennel looking very forlorn indeed.

Abby and Trev want to hear all about it – did it hurt, was much taken, how did they do it ?

Handan becomes a little more animated as she tells them ALL about it.

ALL about the chugging clattering trip down the mountain to the CLINIC. The smells of new dogs, cats and other peculiar smelling things in the CLINIC.

With even more animation she explains ;

“ The director, Elaine, took me in – I wasn’t scared honest. Oh ok just a little bit – but then what girl wants to willingly go somewhere smelling like that CLINIC…. c’mon ? It smells just plain weird. We had not been in there long, with Elaine fussing me and telling me it would all be worth it in the end (REALLY?) and this tall dark man came in with an interesting look in his eye. I had met him before – so have you two. He comes up here to check on the poorlies.

Oh no – that must mean that I am poorly I was thinking – but no I wasn’t poorly. It was TIME – TIME for me to give away my blood.

I wasn’t scared honest. Oh ok just a little bit !

OMG the needle – you should have seen the size of that needle Abby – humongous – honest humongous. Trev you would have run away -you would have “

Abby and Trev shared a knowing look as they recognised the “star leading lady” characteristics appear …. But they didn’t really mind as Handan is their friend and they loved her for being a “star” as well as a friend.

“ Well I was brave, very brave – OMG that needle filled up with MY blood – I could feel my leg begin to wither and shrink as the blood kept coming out. I was sure, I tell you, was sure that I would be left with just a thread for a leg. “

Handan puffs up her chest, shakes her blonde hair and gives a little shimmy – “ I was brave though – they all told me I was brave and I was a good girl and it will all be worth it in the end. I just wanted to know that my leg is going to be alright, that it will survive such an ordeal. It doesn’t feel quite right you know – all sort of weak and wobbly.

Oh hang on what is that – OMG – visitors – visitors with treats. C’mon Abby C’mon Trev – quick quick lets run – run quick run to the front of the fence . Hello – we are here – hello – hello pleased to meet you (not forgetting her manners). ”

Closing scene ….. Handan, Abby and Trev are all jostling for pole position at the front of their compound, delighted to see visitors. Accompanying the visitors is David who explains that this Abby and trev and this is Handan and she is going to the UK. He also explains that she had been to the vet a little while ago for her rabies blood test.

Ahhhhh a look of surprise comes over Handans face – oh yes she had forgotten about that completely forgotten – but hey ho visitors is visitors. In true well mannered fashion Handan put her best foot forward (followed by the other 3) to greet them.
