Thank you to the wonderful Steve and Lisa for all the donations, centre repairs and cleaning over the last 3 weeks. They give up so much of their holiday time to help us at our rescue centre here in North Cyprus. They also prepared a chicken dinner for the centre staff and volunteers before they left - how generous is that?
We will miss you Steve & Lisa and look forward to your next visit.

We are starting the week with a very special story about Bobby.
Who remembers the elusive Bobby?
Bobby's story started in March 2023 when Ebru found Bobby in her garden with a bleeding injured leg. She took him to the vet and was told that he had been shot and was full of shotgun pellets. Surgery was performed to remove the pellets in his leg. He also had a large wound on his side where he had been impaled on a fence.

Bobby got better and then started to wander off for walks and could be seen walking around Esentepe, Catalkoy, Karakum and Girne. A post was put on FB to try and find Bobby a permanent home. A home was found in Alsancak. Bobby settled for a while and was then seen walking the streets again. Photos of Bobby were put on FB from places around the island, and people would go to try and catch him but by the time they got there he had disappeared and would resurface somewhere else. He was proving rather elusive!
In July 2024, with the help of Deniz Osman Cin, Bobby was finally tracked down and we were able to take him to our rescue centre. Bobby looked very thin and blood tests were carried out showing a very low platelet count of 35. Antibiotic treatments were given and Bobby recovered well.
Bobby mixed well with the other dogs at the centre and made friends with other dogs easily. They all seemed to love him and look up to him and he seemed happy.

All the staff also loved Bobby. Elaine, our Centre Manager, had lost her big dog due to old age and was missing having a big dog so she decided to try Bobby at home with her other animals. Over the last few months Bobby has been going home with Elaine and coming back to the Centre during the day, until her cats felt comfortable with him.
That day arrived and Bobby is now officially adopted!
