Distemper in the TRNC

Please read the information below.
📍 Prevention via vaccination is the best way to protect your dog. It is not 100%, but can help, especially with puppies, vulnerable and elderly dogs.
📍it is highly contagious within the canine world.
📍if your dog shows any of the symptoms listed below, seek immediate vet help. It will not get better on it own.
Its a terrible disease, look after your dogs and report any sick dog you see to your nearest vet.

kai

❤️Kai❤️
Kai was found recently in a supermarket car park. Trying to survive on the outskirts of an established pack.
Limping terribly, emaciated, shaking, he was whisked off to the vet where it was established his blood count was virtually non existent and he would have died with days.
The blood parasite diseases (there were 3) were treated, his leg was treated
Iron tablets, mass intake of vitamins, a good diet, physiotherapy on his leg…
He is now a healthy 8 month old puppy with terrible trauma behind him.
Due to the Centre being closed, we ask you to contact the office in the first instance to register your interest.
Or sponsor him Kartrnc@gmail.com
You can donate for his medical bills into our UK bank account, or here in the TRNC. At Creditwest.
📍even though we are closed, the dogs and cats still need homing, we will continue our daily posts for homing and sponsoring.

Nott Family….. thank you!

❤️message from.the Nott family❤️
Just coming to the end of another wonderful holiday here in Cyprus. every”””Everybody knows the stray problem here but I think as tourist we could do a little more. As a family we always try and help to take a little bit of burden off the locals that try and make a difference here. We always bring a case full of bits for KAR or any rescue centre, we choose Kar as we have a dog from them we also sponsor 2 others. My husband donated some money to Kar that he collected in the uk. I gave a couple of bags of treats to Robert the amazing dog whisperer… we also took 2 stray young cats to the vet as one had a wound and the vet also gave them the op so no babies for them. We’ve just picked them up from the vets. I know this is a lot to ask from tourists but doing all of this hadn’t taken up hardly any of our time and we feel we help the problem a little. To the tourist just a little help goes a long way.

harbour kittens

❤️Harbour kittens❤️
When the workman started digging up Girne Harbour. We were approached by one of the tour boats and asked if we could provide shelter to 3 kittens.
They were the last of the many Harbour cats, as all had been ‘lost’ during the building work.
So these 3 darlings are the last of the historical Harbour and boat cats.
The agreement was We would keep them safe and then return to the boat when the work was complete.
Sadly, the work has stalled and its not safe for them to go back.
The boat owners have asked if we can rehomre them now as it’s no life for them at the centre.
The boat owners are grateful for safe homes for this last remaining part of Harbour history.
2 girls and a little boy
rehome a part of Girne History.
They are still waiting….

happy ever after for Ivy.

❤Happy ever after, Ivy❤
Ivy, had her dreams come true last week, when she was chosen for a new, safe, forever home.
She got to experience watching TV over the weekend… (bet it was ‘For the love of dogs’).
❤be happy Ivy.

little E and ernold.

❤they want to be together!❤
This is a special appeal for a forever home for 2 of our older residents.
Little E & Ernold are sister & brother. They were brought to the rescue centre back in March 2014 along with their Mum.
They are now 9 years old and both are really friendly and gentle.
They love going for walks and would be so happy in a home after all these years at the Centre.
Little E has had her front leg removed, but is fully recovered and a very happy tripod.
We would like love for Little E & Ernold to be homed together so they can spend their twilight years enjoying each other’s company in comfort.
Our rescue centre is open every day between 9am and 1pm – so if you would like to come up and meet these two lovely dogs, you will be most welcome!

lulu

❤Lulu❤
This little girl is Lulu.
Lulu is now about 10 years old but despite her advancing years, she is still a lively girl and loves her walks. She gets on well with other dogs and would make a wonderful companion for someone. A warm bed, a secure garden to explore, a family to give her cuddles – it’s not much to ask for is it?
If you would like to meet Lulu, please come up to our rescue centre here in North Cyprus – we are open every day between 9am and 1pm.
Don’t forget, even if you can’t offer her a home, you can sponsor Lulu for just £10.00 a month – please e-mail our office kartrnc@gmail.com for further details.
Please share for Lulu – thank you in anticipation!
