HANDANS TALE EPISODE 4

Opening scene…. 2 ladies , with long slim elegant cigarette holders are stood twirling their pearls whilst chatting on the balcony overlooking the vibrant green lawns – 3 men are sat reading newspapers in the study clouds of cigar smoke wafting the air…
Reality check – Handan is stood at her fence – chatting (Gossiping !) to her neighbours Hayley and Becky. Not a blade of green lawn to be seen – and certainly NO cigars or cigarettes – just Trev chewing on a stick that he has found.
” I’m leaving (on a jet plane) sings Handan…. leaving and i will be in my new “furever” home in time for Xmas. My blood was Excellent – just tickity boo Excellent. The LAB said i PASSED the test ( well i always knew Labs were intelligent dogs – they know a thing or two – they obviously recognised my potential)”
But then a shadow of fear crosses Handan’s face.
” i know i need to be brave but i am a tad concerned …. apparently… Sssshhh i only overheard it…… but we have got IT. Got IT here…. the BUG and I have IT “
Hayley and Becky wide eyed get closer so as to hear more – everyone knows that Handan is very good at sniffing out information (Gossip !)
“There are 14 of us …. already got IT ….. and more maybe had it earlier in the year (16 apparently). I am not sure how but so far (and i know this to be true because i heard Elaine, the director, telling the visitors – so there ! ) 14 of us – i even remembered which of us – me/myself, Pixie, Pita, Tiffany, Zara, Wilf, Naomi, Wren, Clover, Clyde, Mason, Logan, Gabby and Pebbles…. have all got the ” Adopted Abroad” bug.
We are all just waiting.
Hayley looks at Becky and asks if they are going to get it too ? Becky shrugs and ponders a little thinking of what it might mean. It cannot be bad surely – it doesn’t sound it. There hasn’t been any unusual vet visits.
Handan brightens up – ” But it cannot be all bad – because we are all having extra coaching sessions to help us “adapt” and we all will be travelling “stars” and will have our very own personalised carriages to travel in with new and comfy bedding. So that can’t be too bad – i will certainly be travelling in style. Well c’mon … what did you expect ? !!! A gal has to have standards — right.
Oh – another thing – with a shake of the blonde tresses – i also heard (more gossip !) that they are going to be doing more “auditions” and that Team KAR are looking for more people to get their bug – and they really hope it catches on. So better watch this space and see who gets on that “casting list” girls”
Closing scene…. Trev is bored of playing with the stick – it has not got any taste anyway. Abby is still snoozing in the corner in the shade. Becky and Hayley are wondering if they will be called for an audition.
Handan wanders away from the fence – looks up to the sky and sees birds, butterflies and dreams. Dreams that may , for at least 14 of them, be about to come true.
She sighs with a slight smile on her face and a sparkle in her eye. Oh YES she cetainly has dreams.

THANK YOU NECAT BRITISH COLLEGE

THANK YOU NECAT BRITISH COLLEGE
We have been so lucky with the number of visitors we have had this week due to World Animal Day. We also had a visit from the wonderful pupils of Necat British College and their teachers. They brought some fantastic donations with them and had a great time looking around the rescue centre.
Thank you everyone from Necat British College. Please come and see us again soon.

***GOOD NEWS – HOT OFF THE PRESS***

This is such good news we just couldn’t wait to share it with you all.
Back in 2010 (YES 2010) Isa the puppy was found dumped in a box at the shelter. Move on 11 years and Isa has found her furever happy after home!
Geoff and Judith have been long time supporters of KAR and rehomed Bentley a few years ago. They sadly lost another of their dogs recently and decided the time was right to give another dog a chance of happiness. So they paid a visit up to the rescue centre today and fell in love with Isa (to be called Mini – we can see a theme going on here!). It must have been the new haircut Mini ๐Ÿ˜‰
Elaine is over the moon as we all are. Good Luck Mini, you deserve this so much.

THANK YOU SUAT GUNSEL COLLEGE

Following on from World Animal Day we were absolutely thrilled to welcome the Suat Gunsel College to our rescue centre earlier this week. They very kindly brought some fabulous donations of food for our animals, spent time with them and hopefully learned a little bit about looking after their own animals too. Thank you very much to you all ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

WYLIE

This handsome young man is Wylie and he is the next of our Black Beauties appealing for a forever home.
Wylie was one of a litter of 6 who came into the rescue centre 2 years ago along with their Mum. The other 5 have been homed but poor Wylie has been left behind. We can’t understand why, as he is so loving & friendly and gets on well with other dogs.
As with all our adult dogs, Wylie is neutered, microchipped and vaccinated.
We really don’t want this loving boy to spend all his life in a shelter simply because he is a black dog.
Wylie can be seen at our rescue centre here in North Cyprus – visitors are welcome every day of the week between 9am and 1pm. Please, please share for Wylie and let’s find him a loving home!

ANDI

October 1st was Black Dog day. Black dogs are often overlooked and the last to be homed – we don’t understand this as we think all black dogs are beautiful!
To promote our black dogs at the rescue centre, we are having our own Black Beauty Week. We will be posting videos of some of our black dogs – some young, some not so young – but each and every one deserving a forever home.
Andi is the first of our black beauties to appeal for a home. This lovely girl has been with us since 2015 – 6 years – when she was just a tiny puppy. So the centre is all she has ever known. As you can see Andi is a friendly girl and has a very waggy tail! She gets on well with other dogs and is spayed, microchipped and vaccinated.
If you would like to meet Andi, then please come up to the centre to meet her – we are open every day between 9am and 1pm. Please share for Andi – thank you!

HUHUAHUA PUPPIES

You may remember the Huhuahua pups that we posted a couple of weeks ago. We are delighted that 2 of the litter have been homed, which leaves 3 still looking for their forever homes.
They are now about 4.5 months old and we have 2 girls (Darby & Gucci) and 1 boy (Gizmo) As you can see, they are all healthy, have very waggy tails and love to run around & play! Wouldn’t you just love one of them to join your family?
Our rescue centre is open every day between 9am and 1pm. Please come up and see them for yourself – you might just end up taking one of these lovelies home with you!

THANK YOU MERIT INTERNATIONAL HOTELS AND RESORTS

Merit International Hotels and Resorts came to visit our Rescue Centre today, World Animal Day, bringing with them some welcome donations of dog food. They stayed with us for a while and spent time meeting some of our animals.
KAR has a long standing relationship with the Merit Group. They are very pro-active in the neutering and caring for the cats and kittens on their hotel sites in the TRNC. Thank you for coming to visit us today, for the generous donations and for caring about the animals in the TRNC.
If YOU would like to visit our Rescue Centre, meet some of the 300 animals we have in our care and maybe drop off a donation of food or treats for the animals the centre is open 7 days a week from 9am to 1pm. You are guaranteed a very warm woofy welcome.

WORLD ANIMAL DAY

WORLD ANIMAL DAY
World Animal Day is an international day of action for animal rights and welfare celebrated annually on October 4, the feast day of Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals.
The mission of World Animal Day is “to raise the status of animals in order to improve welfare standards around the globe. Building the celebration of World Animal Day unites the animal welfare movement, mobilising it into a global force to make the world a better place for all animals. It is celebrated in different ways in every country, irrespective of nationality, religion, faith or political ideology. Through increased awareness and education we can create a world where animals are always recognised as sentient beings and full regard is always paid to their welfare.
