Blue and Star

2 pups were dumped recently in Catalkoy. they are approx 4 months old and because we literally have no space at our Rescue Center we were not able to take them in. Thankfully we had an offer of a foster placement until space can be made. They really need a home of their own

They are both girls, have their vaccinations, have been wormed and flead. They have had a full blood test for any nasties/parasites etc and were given the all clear. and will be neutered when they are old enough.

Star and Blue were a little wary of being indoors instead of outside initially. We can only assume that they had not been allowed indoors by the people who dumped them. But now they like their comfy beds indoors.
They are now walking well on their leads, beginning to learn how to sit, come and stay, They are good in the car. All in all they are a little (well not so little) pair of crackers.

They are  looking for their “furever” family – is that YOU ? If so please call 0090 533 4098 or email kartrnc@gmail.com

Sylvie

Do you remember Sylvie ? We told you about her back in March …..” She was rescued from the busy mountain road with her sibling Sidney in the autumn of 2018 – they were about 6 weeks old. Sylvie had suffered quite serious facial traumas. Both of her eyes had scars, one eye had a split bottom lid (which was repaired). She (and Sidney) went straight into KAR Quarantine. Now 18 months later and she is still having treatment for her facial injuries. Her facial bone structure has been altered due to the injuries she suffered before she was rescued.
Recently she had severe facial swelling and it was thought that it was due to an infected tooth root. The tooth was removed and she was given antibiotics. However the swelling increased and further veterinary advice was sought. She had a further operation and fragments of bone and tooth were removed from the root canal. However that did not affected the swelling – she has a serious infection in the bone and/or sinus area. She was put on a high dosage of antibiotics – but to no avail.
Yet another operation was carried out very recently – an incision was made from her mouth up into her face so that the infection itself could be drained. She has had to be taken to the animal hospital, in Lefkosa, every 2 days for the drainage hole to be cleared and re packed.”

Sylvie went on to have another operation to remove tooth fragments which had migrated into her face. We were hopeful that her problem was cured and for a while now it seemed that she was healed and was “back to norm”.
However this week the swelling has returned and she is obviously in pain – so she was taken back to the clinic. She is going to need another exploratory operation to open up her face again to try and find what the cause of this latest problem is. That operation will cost us 1500TL and then depending on what they vet/professor finds there is likely to be further costs. Although the clinic is reducing the rate (as we are a Charity) we are still going to be facing (no pun intended !) a big vet bill for Sad Sylvie.
She has been through so much already but she is a young happy dog and she deserves to live her life pain free – we need to help her. Can any of you help us to help her – please ?
If you can donate towards Sylvie’s treatment please visit our website www.kartrnc.org to see how you can do so – from wherever you are.
Thank you and please keep safe during these difficult times.

It’sssss Friday

It’sssss Friday …. and we have some KAR FGF to share !!!!!!!!!

As you know we are always looking for “fur ever” homes for our cats and dogs and not long ago we shared Midge’s story. He had been thrown out of a car up at the center just before TRNC lockdown came into force.
Following his tale being shared on here we had received emails from “hopeful” homes about Midge. However due to the local travel restrictions and stay at home regulations we could not arrange for any visits.
But last week we could finally arrange for Olesya and Roman to visit Midge up at the center. As you can see they all got on well and they were as happy as we were for Midge to say Goodbye to his KAR family and friends and to go home to his new “Furever family”.
It was lovely having you to stay with us Midge but even lovelier for you to leave – with your own family.
Happy days Midge – Ure going home !

3 little kittens are we

three weeks on…..

Three weeks on and here are the puppies Elaine videoed at the beginning of this lock down. They are still at the center as are the 5 members of staff living in basic conditions and have not been with their own families or fur babies for over 3 weeks. Their dedication is amazing. Please support our Heroes, by showing your support to them and the animals in their care.
Please donate via our website, into our U.K. Bank, TRNC bank or use our donate button. Or on a practical level, we have food boxes at most major supermarkets.
