LUCKY & SHANEY

A year ago Lucky & Shaney (previously known as Allegra & Axle) went to their lovely new home.
We received this update and photos so we thought we would share them with you!
“Hello, hope you are well. A short update on our Lucky and Shaney after adopting them a year ago. It was a wonderful year, full of runs, swims, explores. Doggies are very friendly and so great with the girls. They are house trained and walk mostly well on the leash. They get along well with the cat and are a amazing addition to our family!! Sending the pictures of them on their birthday. We made them a dog cake so they were very pleased!! After that we went to the beach to play.”

That made our day, we are so happy for them all!

BENSON

Benson is one happy chap as he has just gone to live with a lovely family in Girne.
He was dumped at the centre in November last year (see the 2nd photo) along with his worldly goods of food, lead and blanket. Benson was obviously used to living in a home and didn’t settle well at the centre. He just stayed in his bed all day and was very subdued.
How cruel to just dump him at the centre – a dog that is used to a home finds life in a rescue centre very difficult.
Thankfully this wonderful family fell in love with him and offered him a home. So he will enjoy some home comforts and life for him will be good again. Happy days Benson!

‘T’ PUPPIES

We’re amazed and disappointed that there has been no interest in the “T” puppies.
These cuties (Teddy & Tara) are now nearly 9 weeks old and here they are having fun in their playpen. Tara was initially far too interested in her toys to play to the camera but she eventually got the hang of it! Teddy in the meantime, made the most of having the camera all to himself!!
You may remember that these 2 were found dumped by the side of a road here in North Cyprus. They would have either been run over or frozen to death, had they not been found and rescued. They were very, very lucky.
The rescue centre is open every day between 9am and 1pm so please come up and see them if you are interested in offering them a home.
Please share for the T puppies and let’s find them a forever home – thank you for watching!

HETTIE IS MISSING!

Hettie is a 7 year old, micro-chipped, KAR Rescue Centre dog. She was taken out yesterday by some of our regular dog walkers but unfortunately slipped her lead. Please can everyone keep an eye out for her? The centre staff were out yesterday afternoon/evening and again early this morning looking for her but there have been no sightings of her. If you see her please call Elaine our centre manager on 0533 863 1950. Thank you.

2021 NEUTERING FIGURES

2021 was a difficult year for the KAR Neutering Clinic. Working hours/days were disrupted due to Co vid restrictions, staff absences, availability of volunteers etc.
But still they managed to SMASH it …..the clinic managed to spay 278 female street cats and neuter 195 male street cats 473 cats in total.
Just think of the number of unwanted kittens that has prevented being born ……well we have been doing some number crunching for you.
Looking at the data – basing our number just on the 278 females that we neutered in 2021 means that over the course of the next 6 years we (and you ) have prevented 11 million 789 thousand and 702 unwanted kittens being born (11789702).
FANTASTIC – well done (and thank you) to everyone involved.
Team KAR – making a difference.
May be an image of cat and text that says "DID YOU KNOW? Average number of litters a fertile cat can produce in 1 year =3 Average number of kittens in a feline litter females 2 males Theoretically, one female cat, her male partner and heir offspring (if all are fertile and survive) can produce: 1 year 2 years 3 years years 5 years 6 years 13 73 365 1785 8701 42,409"

WE NEED YOUR WINTER CLOTHES TO SELL PLEASE

We need your help!
We are in desperate need of clothes to sell in our shops. If you have any unwanted winter clothes – jumpers, jeans, fleeces etc – please donate them to us.
They can be dropped off at either of our shops (opening times on the attached poster)
The funds we raise help to feed and care for the dogs and cats at our rescue centre. At this time of year, they also need extra bedding to help keep them warm.
All donations will be gratefully received – thank you in anticipation!

THANK YOU LEMAR

Recently we collected a cheque from Lemar Supermarkets for 1,654.02TL which is the money raised for KAR from their discount cards. Thank you very much Lemar and thank you to all our Lemar discount card holders too.

GORDON

Good morning from a rather windy day here in North Cyprus!!
Here is Gordon’s appeal for a forever home and he is wagging his tail in anticipation!
He is one of 7 puppies from the G litter that we posted last summer. Sadly we still have 4 of them hoping to find a loving home – 3 boys & 1 girl – they are now coming up to 10 months old. As you can see Gordon is a very friendly, affectionate boy. He loves to run and play – if he had a large secure garden to charge around in, he would be so happy.
If you think you might like to offer Gordon or one of his siblings a forever home, then please come up to the rescue centre and meet them. We are open every day between 9am and 1pm.
