Ebony, Older is better, rehome or foster……. help her have a happy every after.

Continuing our quest to home an oldie in November – this is Ebony.
This sweet, lively girl has been with us since 2013 – 11 years – far too long for any dog to spent their life in a shelter. She was found in Girne along with her litter of puppies, brought to safety and has been with us ever since.
Despite being in her senior years, she is a very spritely dog – she loves to go for walks and run around to explore. It would be wonderful if Ebony could find a loving home so she can spend her twilight years in comfort. It’s not much to ask for, is it?
She would love to meet you so if you are interested in offering Ebony a forever home, please come up to the rescue centre and see her for yourself. We are open every day between 9am and 1pm.

biscuit recipe for our Xmas Bazaar

here is a lovely recipe for biscuits……. please consider making us a batch…….
Recipe for cookies for Xmas Bazaar
Ingredients:
150g of soft buttter
150g of granulated sugar
1 Egg – beaten
2 tsp. of vanilla flavouring
225g of SR flour
½ tsp. Of baking powder (optipnal)
Method:
Cream sugar and butter together until light and fluffy.
Beat in egg slowly.
Add flavouring
Stir in flour and dried flavouring ingredients.
Cook at 160c or Gas No5. For 20 minute or golden brown.
Makes 24 biscuits. Only put 12 biscuits on a tray.
Options:
150g of chocolate chips
Grated Lemon Zest and tsp. of lemon juice instead of vanilla
flavouring and 50g of chopped cranberries
2tsp. of strong coffee and 50g of walnuts
TIps:
You should use all basic ingredients. Do not be tempted to use less
flour. The biscuits dough should be firm NOT runny.
Do not worry if eggs curdle the sugar and butter mixture. It will be
alright in the end.
The biscuits will spread slightly when cooking and should be soft
when taken out of the oven.

Angel our Golden Oldie

Today it is the turn of one of our Golden Oldie cats to appeal for a forever home!
This pretty girl is Angel. She has been with us since 2014, when she came into the shelter after being cared for by one of our wonderful foster carers.
Angel loves her comforts and just likes a quiet life. A home where she could just chill out and enjoy a peaceful life would be ideal for her. Can you offer her that kind of home? If you can, then please come up to the rescue centre and meet Ange…

Our cat neutering got off to a good start this week – yesterday we neutered 7 girls and 3 boys! Here are the patients recovering after their operations.

Cat Neutering Scheme…. figures for October.

Here’s an update on our current Cat Neutering scheme. Since our launch on 12th October, we have held 6 clinics and neutered 25 females and 26 males – that’s really good news!
We thought we would share with you yesterday’s Cat Neutering team – vet Derya and her very able assistants Karin & Wendy. A great team helping to reduce the number of stray cats here in North Cyprus – well done ladies!
