Full Time Vacancy at the Centre
FULL-TIME VACANCY AT RESCUE CENTRE
We are looking for someone to join our team and is confident to work within an animal shelter environment.
Hours: 8am – 4pm alternate 5 days or 6 days a week. Work Permit will be applied for. Transport to the shelter available from the Girne area.
We are looking for someone with clean local driving licence. Able to help with DIY.
Applicant should be experienced in handling dogs and cats and in animal welfare.

Volunteers Week 1-7th June 2019
Thank you to all of the KAR volunteers who help KAR – cat catchers, shop volunteers, PIT ladies, vet assistants, center volunteers, education team, IT adviser, donators, collection box volunteers, entertainers, to the many others who help behind the scenes and also to the KAR Executive Committee. Without you all there would be no KAR.
Pet Travel – arrival of Jess
Jess arrived in the TRNC at the end of April . Customs officers were surprised to hear that she was 12 1/2 years young – they did not think that such an elderly lady would have travelled so well. But Jess’s journey was not finished – her owners were not travelling to the TRNC for a few days and so we had arranged for her to go into boarding here until they were ready to collect her. They were given regular updates during her journey and whilst she was in boarding. Jess, David and Pauline are now all settled into their new TRNC life.

KAR – AGM (29th May).
KAR’s Annual General Meeting was held on 29th May.
An extensive report was given by Margaret Ray of the activities and statistics for the year. Thanks were given to the fantastic dedicated staff and volunteers and to those wonderful people that helped KAR through a very sad and difficult year.
The financial report on the Audited Accounts were presented by Diana Peek and a gift of thanks was presented to Diana on her retirement from the Executive Committee.
A breakdown of the report has been given to the media and minutes of the AGM will be sent to all members.
Drew’s happy ever after to Canada. we will miss you, bear!!!!
We love all of our dogs and cats at the center but sometimes we can’t help but have a favourite. A special favourite for quite a few people is Drew. A big handsome, calm and very gentle dog who loves nothing more than being with people and being fussed.
A few months ago we had some visitors (Cassie and George) up at the center and they too fell in love with Drew. After much discussions and planning (including moving to a new house that would be better for a big dog !) they adopted Drew and preparations began to get him ready to travel to his new home …….in Canada.
On Sunday of this week Elaine and the KAR Pet Travel met at Ercan early in the morning to check Drew in and wave him Goodbye. He had a long journey ahead but we knew that it would all be worth it.
We have heard from Cassie, George and Drew and he arrived safe and sound and is now settling into his new home and family well and he has a new name – Caleb.
But to his KAR family he will always be Drew dearest Drew
– although you are missed everyone at KAR is so happy for you.

Playing exclusively for KAR every Tuedsay afternoon at the Roadhouse in Alsancak. Thank you guys 560TL raised for the month of May. Thank you also to the venue for hosting Bob and Jon.
New exercise and play area – tested by Elaine!!!!
We have a lovely announcement to make. The staff at the Centre having been working hard in their down time to produce an area of fun for the dogs. The Exercise and Play area is now complete and to launch its opening, Elaine decided that she would have to complete the course herself to test it ‘complied with Health and Safety’. So here it is!!! And yes, she had NO IDEA she was being filmed……

Near East Vet Dept visit…..
Yesterday (Monday) the Centre had a visit from The Near East Vet department. A Professor and Vets who are researching Leish tested a selection of centre dogs . We are more than happy to help with hands on research into Leish on the Island!!!!
