Bond Night at Veni Vici – makes the newspaper!

Pasha now Lily – happy ending.
Do you remember Pasha ? Back in April we were asking if anyone recognised her – She understood commands in English and was very well behaved so we were fairly sure that she had come from an English home. Well no one came forward to claim her.
Then we featured her asking for a new “Furever” home…..Pretty Pasha caught the eye of Denise but she was worried as she had her own handsome hunk at home ….her beloved Rocky (the rotti). After many talks and thoughts it was decided that Denise should foster Pasha to see how she got on with Rocky and how she was at home. It was agreed that if it didn’t work out or if Pasha and Rocky didn’t hit it off that she would go back to the Center immediately. After 2 weeks it was clear that Pasha and Rocky were besties … it was also clear that Denise was also smitten with Pasha and vice versa …..so Pasha is now Lily and she has been “at home” for several weeks now and is well and truly part of the family.
Happy Days Lily.
Whenever a cat or dog is homed from our KAR Rescue Center it is always made clear that IF there are any problems the owner should come back to us to discuss the problem and we WILL help as much as we can. The same is true for our foster carers – we WILL help as much as we can and we WILL take the foster animal back if the placement is not working for either the foster carer or the cat/dog.
Please if you can offer a foster placement (or a furever home) for one of our cats or dogs contact us or visit the Rescue Center to have a chat.
We have so many who need you.

Dave Lowe – we salute you.
Today marked the end of an era at the centre. Elaine has asked that we pay tribute to Dave who leaves for pastures new with Rae his wife and family. Dave’s medical knowledge has made a huge difference to the lives of the dogs and cats at the centre, his concreting and welding skills are perfection. Elaine, the centre staff and all at KAR wish you the best and happiness with your move, you will be missed. Are you sure you don’t want to change your mind?????

EASY CHICKEN – by Pam.
1 cooked chicken
8 oz uncooked spaghetti
1/2lb mushrooms
¾ pint readymade white sauce
2 fl oz dry sherry
Cook spaghetti according to packet instructions.
Shred chicken and mix with spaghetti.
Sauté the mushrooms and add to white sauce along with the sherry.
Fold into the chicken and spaghetti mix.
Bake at 375 deg F (190 deg C) Gas mark 5 for 30 minutes.
Parmesan cheese sprinkled over the top before cooking makes it extra special.

HOT HOT… dogs……
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE…. We love that you want to walk the dogs at the Centre, but with it being so hot, we can only allow them to be walked for short periods or at 9AM. We don’t wish you to be disappointed, but walking after 10am is extremely dangerous for them and YOU!!!!!!!
Ex-Centre dog Mr. Wilson – mantrailing…..
Mr Wilson left our Rescue Center in June 2018 to live in Germany. Since then he has become quite the seasoned traveller and has also learnt some new skills ………………we recently had an update …………………..
” Dear Kim, remember Mr. Wilson? He went to his new home almost a year ago. He likes mantrailing, ice cream and going on road trips with his favourite humans Rebecka & Fred. This year he went to France, Spain and Corsica. Oh, what an amazing life one can have!”
Mantrailing is something we hear of often from our Germany adopted dogs and Stefi explained a little………………………
” Mantrailing is a kind of training where the dog uses the individual scent of a person to find him/her, walking more or less precisely on the path the human used. The cue at the start for the dog is e.g. a sock or something else this human was wearing. At the end this person waits (sometimes hidden) and then the dogs receives a treat. This is a very simplified explanation”
What a fun way to bond with your dogs, excercise them, and also encourage them to use their natural skills .
Happy mantrailing Mr Wilson and all of the other KAR dogs who are enjoying their “furever” lives all across the world. Don’t worry Be happy.
