WE URGENTLY NEED YOUR HELP

Our Rescue Centre is looking for part-time workers to regularly cover the hours of Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm. Duties will include but are not limited to cleaning the dogs and cats living areas and generally taking care of the animals. Transport is available from Girne (Kyrenia).
We are also looking for regular volunteers to act as “Meeters and Greeters” to help show our visitors around. These hours are 9am to 1pm.
If you would like to join Team KAR at our rescue centre please contact Elaine (Centre Manager) on 0533 863 1950 or the office by e-mail on kartrnc@gmail.com You don’t need to have done this sort of work before as full training will be given. You just need to love our cats and dogs and want to give them the best you can.

NATIONAL BLACK CAT DAY

Don’t be superstitious on National Black Cat Day! October 27th celebrates the beauty of these sleek creatures. The day also seeks to raise awareness about the low adoption rates for black cats.
This time of year, many black cats may decorate many thresholds for Halloween and windows for spooky decor. However, these felines deserve the love and attention just as much as their tabby equivalents. Old notions have given these furry critters a bad reputation. The day is about turning that reputation around.
Their black canine counterparts also face similar adoption problems. So, it’s not all about myth and mystery. However, increasing support for the black feline’s plight is the goal of this holiday.
We have lots of cats and kittens, dogs and puppies of all shapes, sizes and colours at our rescue centre all waiting for their furever home. The centre is open 7 days a week from 9am to 1pm. Please come along and visit us. You might just find your new BFF (Best Friend Furever)

MAYA

We are so happy to announce that Maya has found her furever happy after home. She came to the Rescue Centre 3 years ago with her 5 pups. All the puppies were re-homed but Maya remained with us. However now it is her turn. Maya really is going home as she was rescued from Lapta and her new home is also in Lapta. Go and make some fabulous memories with your new owners Maya.

ARCHIE (WAS DAZ)

You may recall the video earlier this week of the happy re-union of brothers Archie and Hector (was Daz and Dez). Well it comes to light that Archie has a trick he has perfected. Here is the update from Robin.
“He has a habit now that whenever anyone leaves their chair he jumps up on it… and it resulted in him unexpectedly appearing in one of my company’s recent Zoom meetings!” Well done Archie, I wonder if anyone realised??!! 😆

UPDATE ON BUTTONS

Latest update from the Rescue Centre is that Buttons is on lots of medication and until this starts to get into his system we really don’t know how long his recovery is going to take. Elaine tells me that he is a bit brighter and does wag his tail now and then and is eating well. At this early stage that is all we can really hope for.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank absolutely everyone who has donated so far towards the costs of Buttons’ vet bills and recovery. Without our wonderful friends and supporters we wouldn’t be able to do what we do! But, there is always a but, there is still time if you would like to donate towards the costs of his recovery. Here are our UK and TRNC Bank details and please put Buttons in the reference field, or you can bring your donation into our office which is open Monday to Friday 9am to 1pm.

GLOBAL CAT DAY

Global Cat Day on October 16th raises awareness surrounding non-lethal feline programs. Programs such as trap, neuter, and release (TNR) are making it possible for cats to live full and healthy lives right in our neighborhoods.
TNR programs aim to reduce shelter and overall colony populations across the country. TNR programs trap feral and stray cats. They are then neutered and vaccinated under the care of a veterinarian. Their ears are tipped to identify that they have been neutered. Then the cat is released back into the neighborhood where they were captured.
Long-term studies show that not only does the population decline, but the cats live out their lives healthily.
Adoption doesn’t always work for Feral cats – cats that have never had human contact – as they don’t associate well with humans. They will always be feral and unable to be adopted. Feral cats prefer the wild. A TNR program offers them the best chance of living side by side with humans.
Kyrenia Animal Rescue runs it’s own very successful TNR program (affectionally know as Kitty Snipping) here in the Kyrenia Area of the TRNC. For more information on this please email our office on kartrnc@gmail.com

DENIZ

DENIZ
We find it hard to believe that poor Deniz is still looking for his happy furever after home. He is about 3.5 months old now and has the most gorgeous crystal blue eyes. He had a shocking start to his life. Lets put an end to that today and find him a home and family to call his own. Please come and visit Deniz, and our other animals, at our Rescue Centre. The centre is open 7 days a week from 9am to 1pm and you are guaranteed a warm welcome from our animals. They just love meeting new people.

TITCH

Black Beauty No. 7!
We would like to introduce you to Titch. This very handsome boy came to the rescue centre here in North Cyprus back in 2019 and we estimate he is now about 4 years old.
Despite his name, Titch is one of our larger dogs but he is very calm and gentle. And as you can see, he has a very shiny coat!
He gets on just fine with other dogs and he would love a big secure garden to run around in. Titch is neutered, microchipped & vaccinated – all he needs now is that forever home.
You can meet Titch at the centre, he will be delighted to see you – we are open to visitors 7 days a week between 9am and 1pm. Please share for Titch!

BEAU

Black Beauty No. 6
After the success of Sadie’s homing last week, we have decided to extend Black Beauty week by a few days and appeal for a home for some more of our gorgeous black dogs.
This handsome boy is Beau. He has been with us since he was a small puppy and is now about 4 years old. Beau was homed soon after he came to the rescue centre but had to be returned through no fault of his own.
He is a very gentle, calm boy and our dog walkers tell us he is a pleasure to take out for walks. Beau gets on well with other dogs (and people!) and would make an wonderful companion for someone living on their own, a couple or a family – he doesn’t mind which.
In case you are wondering just what has got his attention towards the end of the video – it is of course Evie, our lovely old girl, who loves to watch the dogs being filmed!
Please come and meet Beau if you think he is the right boy for you. The centre is open 7 days a week, 9am to 1pm. Share, share, share for Beau!
