KYRENIA ANIMAL RESCUE CHRISTMAS MARKETS

Last Saturday saw the first of our Christmas Markets outside our offices in Karakum. There were various stalls and everyone’s favourite The Tombola!
Many people came along to bag themselves a bargain and buy our Grand Prize Draw tickets. As you can see from the photos lots of fun was had by all. AND we will be doing it all again on Saturday 4 December so why not come along and do some Christmas Shopping? The market will be open from 10am to 1pm.

UPDATE FROM KARRIE (was KARAMEL)

Some of you may have seen this recent update on our “Happy Tails” Facebook Page but we had to share it on here too for everyone to see.
“I can honestly say our beautiful girl is very much at home with us all – it’s like she’s always been here ❤️🐾 she’s even had her first holiday with us in Cornwall the 3 amigos had an awesome, fun filled week and us humans enjoyed it too! Karrie was amazing everywhere we took her – she loved the beaches but isn’t keen on paddling 😂 but we will get there I’m sure. We took all 3 dogs into some fantastic dog friendly pubs, all were the centre of attention on many occasions 😍 Karrie’s journey to UK has been told many times!! So it’s starting to turn very cold here now – welcome to your first winter here in the UK beautiful Karrie winter coat at the ready! Christmas is just a month away so
we wish you all a very happy and healthy season of good will 🎄🎅🏻🎄❤️🐾🐾

THANK YOU KARL AND SALLY

A huge big thank you to Karl Long and Sally Knights for the fabulous donation of the old decking boards from the Red Lion Pub (soon to be Paddy’s Bar). These will be used to make and repair kennels for our dogs to keep them warm and dry through the winter. As you can see from the photos Ian is already hard at it taking out all the old nails from the decking so it is all ready to make the designer residences. Thank you again and good luck Karl and Sally with your new venture!

What a difference less than a week makes. Thank you Sally and Karl for the wood and Ian and the centre staff for their woodworking expertise. 🙂

UPDATE FROM PIXIE

We are so thrilled to receive this update from Pixie’s new family.
“Pixie has traveled very well. We got into the country with zero problem.
She is a very shy dog but she slept well on her first night at home. She is a great dog.
We are sending some pictures of her.
Have a nice weekend.”
We can see that Pixie is very happy in her new furever home and going by the last photo will be a big help with the homework! Happy furever after Pixie!

DENIZ, LOKI, BUGSY, AND JAGGER

Please let me introduce you to Deniz, Loki, Bugsy and Jagger all gorgeous cutie kittens currently living at our Rescue Centre. A Rescue Centre is not a long term place for animals to call “home” and these beautiful animals would so love a furever home to call their own where they would be loved and cared for by a family of their own. If you have room in your heart and in your home please come along to our rescue centre and give them a cuddle before deciding which one (or more) is for you. The centre is open 7 days a week from 9am to 1pm.

REASONS TO NEUTER

When someone suggests you neuter your pet please don’t get offended, read this.
1. Statistically for every kitten sold on Facebook for a tenner and actually neutered, another one won’t be.
2. Every rescue is dependant on volunteers. Volunteers who lose family time, money, sleep, weekends and evenings caring for and fundraising to ensure unwanted cats get the correct care.
3.Animals have no voice.. So when somebody speaks on their behalf stop getting upset.
4.Uneutered Male cats will wander in search of females. They will fight ferociously and cause terrible injury to other males in the process causing sepsis. And dreadful life threatening diseases.
5. Every litter of kittens born in your home and sold adds to the problem by stopping a rescue cat being adopted.
6. Rescues are full to capacity with cats which have been bought on a whim of Facebook and surrendered or abandoned due to boredom or Inability to afford vet bills, Neuter, Vaccs, Food, Flea and worm treatment
7. Each rescue has a waiting list. They spend literally thousands of pounds a year on vet treatment. Food, litter. Flea and worm treatment, Electricity, Petrol. These are just the basics.
8. Behind the scenes volunteers nurse, clean out several times a day. Fundraise constantly. Worry about cats who have been surrendered and are traumatised by being torn from its surroundings and carry the guilt of the decisions they have to make.
9. Rescues have volunteers who drive for miles doing home checks. Trapping stray cats, picking up unwanted cats and spend hours on the phone trying to find spaces and homes for unwanted pets.
10. Volunteers spend their free time and energy picking up the pieces from people who allow cats to have kittens and refuse to neuter.
Please don’t be offended when someone asks are you getting your pet neutered – rescues see the consequences of these actions every day 365 days a year and are simply giving a voice to the vulnerable creatures so casually given away or sold for pence.
