BUGSY AND JAGGER TOO

We recently posted some photos of Bugsy, one of our lucky cats who recently found his forever home. Well, Bugsy’s new life got even better when his best friend Jagger joined him!
They were the very best of friends in our cattery, they loved to play together and have lots of fun. So it really made our day when Bugsy’s new owners returned to the centre to take Jagger home with them as well.
Here’s some photos of the two of them snuggling up together and Jagger leaving the centre for the last time. Enjoy your new lives Bugsy & Jagger!

ZAK

The happy endings continue! Here’s Zak’s story –
Zak came into our rescue centre in July 2018. He had been tied to a fence by his owner in full sun with no shelter/shade, no water or good food (see the last photo). Thankfully with the help of Girne Belediyesi, we were able to bring him to safety.
A few weeks ago Oswald and Maureen phoned Elaine, our centre supervisor, asking if she had any shepherd dogs, as they had just sadly lost their dog that they had brought with them from the UK, to cancer.
Maureen tells us that Zak has settled very well – he sleeps on her bed, he has his own sofa, he likes sitting in front of the fire and playing with his toys.
It’s amazing how quickly he has adapted to his new life. We are delighted for Zak, after all he has been through, he has finally found a loving home.

We would like to thank the wonderful people at Micropets LLC based in Canada for their very generous donation. Half of their donation is to be used for roofing repairs at the Rescue Centre and the other half is to help with our regular bills.

KITTY SNIPPING FIGURES FOR 2021

2021 was a difficult year for the KAR Neutering Clinic. Working hours/days were disrupted due to Co vid restrictions, staff absences, availability of volunteers etc.
But still they managed to SMASH it …..the clinic managed to spay 278 female street cats and neuter 195 male street cats 473 cats in total.
Just think of the number of unwanted kittens that has prevented being born ……well we have been doing some number crunching for you.
Looking at the data – basing our number just on the 278 females that we neutered in 2021 means that over the course of the next 6 years we (and you ) have prevented 11 million 789 thousand and 702 unwanted kittens being born (11789702).
FANTASTIC – well done (and thank you) to everyone involved.

GEORGIE & GIO

Some of our rescue dogs have gone to new homes in the UK, Europe or Canada.
However, many find loving homes here in North Cyprus! Two such lucky pups are Georgie & Gio, siblings from the G litter we posted back in the summer.
Debbie sent us these photos so we thought we would share them with you. Don’t they look content? We particularly love the photo of Georgie by the log burner, she looks like she’s toasting one side and keeping the other side cool on the marble floor!
We are always pleased to receive updates on our centre dogs and cats – so if you have homed a four-legged friend from KAR, please send us your photos – we would love to see them!

BERRY

Berry is the second of the B puppies to find her forever home. Just look at her sweet face, she looks a bit bemused about having her photo taken!
Sister Bailey (now Sofia) was homed a week or so ago, which just leaves poor Belle waiting for someone to fall in love with her. We will be posting some photos of her very soon as we don’t want her to be left behind!

BAILEY (NOW SOFIA)

This is Bailey (now called Sofia) who has gone to live with Kim here in North Cyprus.
Bailey & her 2 sisters didn’t have a very good start in life – they were dumped overnight outside Catalkoy Belediyesi and were very lucky to survive.
Here’s Bailey leaving the rescue centre with Kim and looking forward to a lovely new life where she will be loved and cared for. Happy days!

LUCKY & SHANEY

A year ago Lucky & Shaney (previously known as Allegra & Axle) went to their lovely new home.
We received this update and photos so we thought we would share them with you!
“Hello, hope you are well. A short update on our Lucky and Shaney after adopting them a year ago. It was a wonderful year, full of runs, swims, explores. Doggies are very friendly and so great with the girls. They are house trained and walk mostly well on the leash. They get along well with the cat and are a amazing addition to our family!! Sending the pictures of them on their birthday. We made them a dog cake so they were very pleased!! After that we went to the beach to play.”

BENSON

Benson is one happy chap as he has just gone to live with a lovely family in Girne.
He was dumped at the centre in November last year (see the 2nd photo) along with his worldly goods of food, lead and blanket. Benson was obviously used to living in a home and didn’t settle well at the centre. He just stayed in his bed all day and was very subdued.
How cruel to just dump him at the centre – a dog that is used to a home finds life in a rescue centre very difficult.
Thankfully this wonderful family fell in love with him and offered him a home. So he will enjoy some home comforts and life for him will be good again. Happy days Benson!
