Thank you Jane!!!

We would like to thank Jane Glen and her friends who visited the centre recently. Jane has her own grooming business in the UK, and she was happy to clip and groom some of our dogs for us. Here you can see them enjoying a bit of pampering!
Jane also made a donation to us, which was very welcome and sent us a lovely message, which we are sharing with you.
Thank you very much Jane and friends, we hope to see you again some time!

Thank You Tims Cafe

Huge thank you to Tim’s Cafe and all the supporters of Monday evening Bingo.
It is appreciated by everyone at KAR, especially our dogs and cats, without you it wouldn’t be possible x

thank you Dee for your visit and your kind words

We had a lovely visit today. Made very welcome by the staff who showed us around, helped us groom sone dogs and gave us lots of information about the dogs and how they are cared for.
Very clean, and dogs are well cared for.
This place is a credit to all the staff and volunteers. Donations are well spent on the animals.
We took dog and cat food and a bag of toys which was well received. We have now sponsored 2 beautiful dogs.
Looking forward to our next visit when we come back to north Cyprus.
Please support KAR in any way you can.

Our lovely Dillon

This handsome young man is Dillon. He was found one morning tied up at our office in Girne. We have no idea how long he had been left there, poor boy.
Dillon is about 9-12 months old, very friendly and gentle. He walks well on the lead and loves his biscuits! He has started his course of vaccinations and is due to be neutered once they have been completed.
If you think you would like to welcome Dillon into your home, then please come up to the centre to meet him – he will  be very happy to meet you! The centre is open every day between 9am and 1pm.

Please share for Dillon, thank you!

Apricot still waiting…….

On Ginger Cat Appreciation Day, here’s one of our ginger cats!

This is Apricot, who came into the centre recently and gave birth to a litter of kittens shortly afterwards.
Here she is relaxing and taking time out from her lively brood, isn’t she just gorgeous? She will shortly be looking for her forever home so if you are interested, please come up to the rescue centre to see her – we are open every day of the week between 9am and 1pm.

Please be aware

We would love to be able to bring into our shelter and care for, all the abandoned dogs and cats in the TRNC.
This is simply NOT possible because:
1. All animals coming into to the shelter, MUST come through our Quarantine area. This is to ensure we do not place our existing animals at risk from highly contagious and life threatening diseases.
2. Our Quarantine area can only house a set amount of dogs.
3. If we do not home our current animals there is no room for those leaving the quarantine area to go to.
4. Then there is the cost. We solely rely on donations and fundraising through various events and our charity shops. We do not receive any grants or government incentives. To house a dog or cat makes a financial strain on our limited budget and resources.
The reason why we started a quarantine area was because a few years ago we had a massive problem with Distemper (a fast spreading disease) which decimated a lot of the dogs at the centre and took a huge amount of medicines and resources to contain the disease.
We will of course offer any advice, assistance and referrals to other charities and people who help animals that we can, to anyone contacting us. This is due to us being committed to the welfare of TRNC dogs and cats.
Hope this explains the situation please contact us if you have any queries or suggestions regarding this post we would be happy to hear from you.

The second part of our cattery refurbishment is taking shape. Here’s Paul and David working hard, then taking time off to pose for the camera!

They are doing a fantastic job – we’re sure the cats can’t wait to explore their lovely new cattery!!
