ZARA

Our office “Angels” never know what each day is going to bring. They quite often arrive at the Karakum office to see bags of donations that kind people have left – donations are always needed and always wanted.
But last year, towards the end of June, one donation outside the office, one morning, was “different” – it was with trepidation that Kim approached the cardboard box on the office front doorstep. Her heart just knew that this would not be books, clothes, toys or anything like that.
Opening the box a little face looked up at her and whimpered – a small white puppy (about 5 – 6 weeks old) was trying to cuddle up to the concrete block weighting the box down.
Kim checked the puppy out – she was a little girl and appeared to be in pretty good condition. After a little check over , some food ( not the little bowl of salad vegetables left in the box ), a drink and cuddles the puppy settled into a warm soft towel and promptly went to sleep in the office – waiting until she could be taken up to the center and into the quarantine area (where all new arrivals must go).
Fast forward to 2022 – Zara (as she is now called) had been staying in KAR foster care, she was simply too vulnerable and small to stay up at the center AND ——– YAY ——–she had been adopted and was being travel prepped for the UK. This could not begin until she 3 months old.
Last week she flew to her new home in the UK. As you can see she is somewhat bigger now – but still as pretty and she is enjoying all of her new experiences (the North sea instead of the Med, maybe even Cockles instead of Hamsi ) in the UK with her new loving family who had waited so long for her.
She certainly is living life “outside the box” !!!
