Tragedy Averted by 5 KAR SuperHeroes.

So as Winter arrives for 2020, it is a Season we always dread with weather damage and the threat to life.
Yesterday, during the high winds and terrible storms our worst nightmare was realized
Late yesterday afternoon, a large branch fell from the overhanging tree bringing an electric cable with it, onto the roof of the cattery. The branch immediately began ‘sparking’ as the electric current passed through it.
Emergency procedures were put into operation, with the relevant Services being called. Kibtek, The Forestry Department, The Fire Brigade… But as we waited, the danger began to escalate.
Four members of staff stayed behind to wait for the emergency services, but then had to start evacuating the cats as the fear of fire became a reality.
Ian Jones, decided he needed to be on the roof of the cattery to try and protect the building and the possibility of the potential fire spreading.

No emergency services arrived.

Ian Jones spent 4 hours on the roof the cattery.
David, Jasmine and Antony – moved all the cats to safety and then helped to protect the cattery.
Yulihan – repeatedly called all the Emergency Services, moved all the vehicles to provide light to the Cattery Area.
These 5 members of staff, prevented a potential tragedy at the Centre and words of thanks are not enough, but it is all we have.

Their dedication to the animals at the centre was phenomenal, with risk to their own safety, they battled to save the Cattery and potential spread of a devastating fire.

After 4 hours Kibtek remotely turned off the electric, which allowed, Ian, David and Antony to removed the entangled cable and cut back the branch.

We use the Term ‘KAR Heroes’ a lot, but this is SuperHero Status for these 5 members of the KAR Family.
